1995, a meeting was held at the NRC offices in White Flint, Md, to provide a status of the issues associated with barrel former bolts for the Donald C.

The following are our intended future actions regarding the barrel former bolt issues for the Donald C.

Cook Nuclear Plant Unit 1.

Inspections will be performed of, the unit 1 barrel former bolts next refueling outage.

The scope and technology will be determined and communicated to the NRC prior to the inspection.

3.

We will continue to refine the root cause analysis.

An appropriate repair approach and repair techniques and procedures will be developed as necessary.

4.

Neutron noise monitoring willbe performed periodically during Unit 1 Cycle 15.

The data willbe analyzed and compared to criteria established per Westinghouse recommendation.

5.

The Digital Metal Impact Monitoring System (DMIMS) will be used during Unit 1 Cycle 15 to monitor for loose parts.

Westinghouse and AEP will jointly monitor startup operations.

The data obtained in conjunction with a loose parts alarm on the DMIMS reactor vessel channels will be analyzed by Westinghouse.

If it is determined that the alarm was triggered by a loose barrel former bolt, the NRC will be notified by a

special report.
