COMMENTS ON PROPOSED GENERIC LETTER 95-XX'RESSURE LOCKING AND THERMAL BINDING OF SAFETY-RELATED POWER-OPERATED GATE VALVES This letter provides comments on the subject proposed generic letter regarding pressure locking and thermal binding of safety-related power-operated gate valves.
Comment 1
The 60-day requirements should be changed to 90-day requirements.
The additional 30 days would allow a more thorough review and, in particular, allow time to retrieve and verify necessary documentation to support the evaluations.
Comment 2
The 180-day requirements should be changed to 240-day requirements.
The additional time is desirable to allow orderly development of an across the board methodology to address the evaluation requirements, in particular the requirements to consider all modes of plant operation, including test configurations.
