E. Fitzpatrick Vice President Nuclear Operations Division 1 Riverside Plaza

Columbus, OH 43216

Dear Hr. Fitzpatrick:

SUBJECT:

FITNESS FOR DUTY CONCERN AT D.C.

COOK NUCLEAR PLANT The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission received information concerning activities at the D.C.

Cook Nuclear Power Plant facility.

The details of this fitness for duty concern were provided by telephone on August 30, 1993 by James Creed of my staff to Hr. Walter Hodge, Security Director at the D.C.

Cook plant.

The results of your review and disposition of this matter were discussed in a

telephone call between James Belanger of my staff and Hr. Hodge on September 22,

1993, Your review indicated that the individual denied making the alleged statement and agreed to submit to a psychological interview.

The results of that psychological interview showed no indications of depressive or anxiety disorders and the psychologist recommended the individual's continued unescorted access to perform their assigned duties.

We found your resolution of this issue to be sufficient to support your conclusions and we have no additional questions at this time.

We request that you retain the supporting documentation for your investigation of this concern for a minimum of one year from the date of this letter.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
