Cz This letter requests an extension of two months to respond to the requirements set forth in NUREG-0612, "Control of Heavy Loads", Sections. 2.2, 2.3 and 2.4.

Our review is progressing in each of these sections, but more time is needed to evaluate the combination of potential dropped load events.

Additionally, our July 31, 1981 response to Section 2.1 (AEP:NRC:0514) coIITIIitted to complete by September 22, 1981 the painting of the load path on El.

650'n the Auxiliary Building.

This work has not yet been started for the following reasons.

A purchase order was placed with Carboline Company, Divi-sion of Sun Oil, on August 14, 1981 for 70 gallons of Carboline Protective Coating.

The promised delivery date was September 4, 1981.

We were notified by Carboline on September 10, 1981 that their plant was on strike.

On September 17, 1981, we were again notified that the strike was settled and delivery is now expected the week of September 21, 1981.

It is now anticipated that the load path painting in the Auxiliary Building will be complete on October 22, 1981.

Lastly, AEP drawing No. 12-5170 attached to our above 0=I1tioned letter of July 31, 1981 contained an administrative error in that 1t in: i'ted that Elevation 609'f the Auxiliary Building would be painted.

Please note that the correct intention is to only paint the sections marked on the drawing corresponding to Elevation 650'f the Auxiliary Building.
