Cock Nuclear Plant Radiation Monitoring System (RtS) necessary to meet the requirements of NUREG-0737, item II.F.1 Attachm nts 1 and 3.
2.0 RADIATION YONIK)RBG SYS~ GENERAL DESCRIPTION 2.1 POSITIONS OF NUREG 0737 discussed in our submittal AEP:NRC: 00398 dated January 8,1981 the noble gas nonitoring portion of the KS uses a combination of three detectors to neet the range xeguizement of NUREG-0737.
This approach is consistent with NRC position hM.
2 given in NUREG-0737.
Attachm nt 1 to Section IZ.F.1.
The Steam Generator Safety Relief Valves nonitor has. a naximum range of 10R/Hr which would correspond to approximately 110 uCi/cc at the source (vendor supplied value).
Preliminaxy estimates indicate that the concentrations in the Secondary Side Steam under accident conditions would be well below this limit. This is an exception to the range recpxirenents of Table ZI.F.1-1.

Cook Plant Radiation Monitoring System will consist of a
distributed system of detectors and local processor assemblies ccmn'unicating to their respective RMS contxol terminals.
One contxol terminal is located in each contxol room.
All ncble gas radiation m asuzements, are made with a standard Eberline detector ccmbination Qu.ch is served hy a local processor.
The local processor perfoxms background subtraction, applies conversion
- factors, and retains the data fran each detector channel in history files.
Each local processor is AC operated from a vital power source with 8 hours9.259259e-5 days <br />0.00222 hours <br />1.322751e-5 weeks <br />3.044e-6 months <br /> of battery backup..
Redundant, in-containment high range radiation neasurem nts are tmde with a Victoreen High Range Containrant Yanitoring System.
This i
system,'perates with a
detector inside contairmant and a
readout/controller located in each control room.
This information may then be processed through an Eberline local processor in the same manner as described
- above, including the history file functions.
j The two central control terminals are identical.
The control terminal is the operator interface with the rest of the system.
Each terminal has its own keyboard, printer and system status annunciator.
The control terminal also logs history files automatically or upon
- request, performs calculations on data in the history. files, annunciates status conditions, and communicates m ssages.
The "display on demand" note in Table 1
means that information equivalent to a continuous display is available for printing or display when the operator requests it.
