The purpose of this letter is to advise you that the installation of the automatic trip of the Auxiliary Feedwater Pumps (AFP's} on low suction pressure will be delayed until approximately April 30, 1981 due to equipment procurement problems and to lack of proper documentation on the seismic qualification of certain parts.
In our letter of December ll, 1979 (AEP:NRC:00300) we committed to install this automatic pump trip by January 1,
1981 in response to long term recommendation GL-4 contained in Mr. D.
G.
Eisenhut's letter of October 30, 1979 concerning the auxiliary feedwater system evaluation for Cook Plant.
We further point out that the schedule for completion of this work under item II.E.l-l of NUREG-0737 (Long Term-Auxiliary Feedwater System Evaluation) is January 1, 1982.
- Hence, our revised installation date of April 30, '1981 wi-ll be within the NUREG-0737 implementation schedule.
We have previously discussed the matter of this letter with members of your Staff.
We'ope that this has not caused any inconvenience in your staff's review effort's.
