This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted
by
R. A. Langstaff,
G.
M. Nejfelt, and P.
R. Rescheske
from this
office on August 31 through October 9,
1992.
The inspection
included
a review of activities authorized
by NRC Operating
Licenses
No. DpR-58 and No. DpR-74 for the D.C.
Cook Nuclear
power plant, Units
1 and 2.
A discussion of our findings was
held with you and members of your staff at the conclusion of the
inspection.
The purpose of this inspection
was to assess
the, quality and
effectiveness
of engineering
involvement in plant activities.
The enclosed
copy of our inspection report identifies'reas
examined during the inspection.
Within these
areas,
the
inspection consisted of a selective
examination of procedures
and representative
records,
observations,
and interviews with
personnel.
No violations of NRC requirements
were identified during the
course of this inspection.
Improvements in communication
between
corporate design engineering
and plant engineering
was recognized
as compared to previous inspections.
This improvement
was
evident during the post-modification testing phase of the design
change process.
According to 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations,
a copy
of this letter and the enclosed
inspection report will be placed
in the
NRC Public Document
Room.
