RELAXATION OF STAFF POSITION IN GENERIC LETTER 83-28, ITEM 2.2, PART 2, "VENDOR INTERFACE FOR SAFETY RELATED COMPONENTS" (TAC tfOS.

On March 20, 1990, the NRC issued Generic Letter (GL) 90-03 "Relaxation of Staff Position in Generic Letter 83-28, Item 2.2, Part 2 'Vendor Interface for Safety-Related Components.'"
The GL requested that all licensees and applicants review their present vendor interface program and modify them as necessary using the guidance supplied in the GL.
On May 14, 1990, the staff issued Supplement 1 to GL 90-03 to clarify the examples of key safety-related equipment in the GL by readding emergency diesel generator and safety-related electrical switchgear.
By letter dated July 9,
- 1990, AEP:NRC:838AH, you responded to GL 90-03 and its supplement an'd indicated that the programs have been implemented in accordance with the guidance given in the GL.
Further, you believe your programs for D. C.
Cook Units 1 and 2 go well beyond the minimum requirements described in the GL and its supplement.
The staff has reviewed your response and finds it to be acceptable.
This completes our review of TAC Nos.
76225 and 76226 for your facilities.
As GL 90-03 was meant as a relaxation of GL 83-28, Item 2.2, Part 2, this Item is also considered complete for your facilities.
