Dear Mr. Powers:

In response to Walt Nelson's letters dated June 14 and July 26, 1999, we have tentatively scheduled initial licensing examinations for D. C. Cook operator license applicants during the weeks of March 5 and 12, 2001, and April23 and 30, 2001. Validation of the examinations will occur at the station during the weeks of February 12 and April2, 2001, respectively.

In the unlikely event that we are unable to support the examinations during the scheduled weeks, we willinform you immediately upon discovery of such conditions and make arrangements to administer the examination at a mutually acceptable date.

As agreed upon in a telephone conversation on August 9, 1999, your staff willdevelop the examinations.

Mr. Nelson's letters indicated you are training approximately 32 candidates for the examinations.

Please inform us ifthe number of candidates declines below 10 for either examination as this willimpact the examination schedule.

Please also inform us at your earliest opportunity ifyou discover you are unable to support the examination on the scheduled dates.

Asupplementary letter willbe sent to the training department approximately 120 days prior to the examination outlining examination security expectations, listing the materials required by the NRC to conduct the examination, reconfirming the examination dates, and reconfirming the number of candidates you have in the training program.

Ifyou have any questions concerning this information, please contact Mary Ann Bies of my staff at 630-829-9711.
