Dear Dr. Murley:
This letter confirms our agreement made during a meeting on April 13 and 14, 1988, with Mr. John Stang of your staff concerning Cook Nuclear Plant's response to Regulatory Guide (R.G.) 1.97.
We agreed to submit to you by October 1,
- 1988, an updated report that details our compliance with Rev.
3 of Regulatory Guide 1.97.
The October 1, 1988 submittal will consolidate, clarify and update our previous submittals (AEP:NRC:07730, dated October 15, 1985 and AEP:NRC:0773S, dated June 29, 1987) concerning our status of compliance with R.
G. 1.97.
Our October 1, 1988 submittal will be prepared based on the assumption that the deviations from Reg.
Guide 1.97 recommendations requested in our previous submittals will be approved.
In order to meet our installation schedule, we are proceeding with our design efforts based on these deviations and the commitments noted in our previous submittals.
These deviation requests will be reiterated in our October 1988 submittal; therefore, any ongoing NRC review activities associated with previous requests for deviations and additional information requested by your staff can continue.
- However, we request that the NRC's final licensing decision be based on our October 1, 1988 submittal.
