Dear Dr. Murley:
The purpose of this letter is to request withdrawal of a portion of the Technical Specification (T/S) changes requested in our letter AEP:NRC:0916AF, dated January ll, 1988.
The portion that we are requesting be withdrawn consists of those items numbered 4
through 6 in Attachment 1 of the letter.
Our letter AEP:NRC:0916AF proposed surveillance interval extensions which were intended to allow Unit 2 of the Cook Nuclear Plant to continue operation until its current steam generator replacement outage.
At the time the letter was written, the exact outage date had not been determined.
Therefore, the letter proposed extensions for surveillances which were due through May 18, 1988.
The first group of these
- changes, those due between March 2,
- 1988, and March 21,
- 1988, were granted by the NRC via Amendment 99 to the Unit 2 T/Ss.
The balance of the proposed surveillance interval extensions, which involved surveillances due between May 8,
- 1988, and May 15,
- 1988, are no longer necessary since Unit 2 entered the steam generator replacement outage on April 23, 1988.
For this reason, we request that the proposed changes be withdrawn.
