Dear Dr. Murley:
Based on our conversation with Mr. M. Phillips, NRC Region III, on November 4,
- 1987, we understand that an extension to test D.
C.
Cook Unit 2 motor-operated valves in accordance with IE Bulletin 85-03 will be effective as of November 15, 1987, unless we are informed otherwise.
Bulletin 85-03 concerns "Motor-Operated Valve Common Mode Failures During Transients Due To Improper Switch Settings."
We understand that the extension is effective until 1988 refueling occurs.
In our letter AEP:NRC:0966, dated Hay 16,
- 1986, we requested an extension until the Unit 2 refueling outage, which was then scheduled for February, 1988.
The Unit 2 refueling outage is now scheduled for approximately May-June 1988.
This document has been preparea following Corporate procedures which incorporate a reasonable set of controls to ensure its accuracy and completeness prior to signature by the undersigned.
