Dear Dr. Murley:
We are pleased to inform you that in order to further assure the safe and continued operation of the Donald C.
Cook Nuclear Plant we have advanced to May 1988 the start date for the Unit 2 Steam Generator Repair Project.
Please note the May 1988 start date is much earlier than the original March 1989 date contained in our Steam Generator Repair Report dated November 4, 1986.
This proposed schedule
- change, which is now confirmed, was reviewed with members of your staff during a meeting on July 15, 1987 to discuss the licensing priorities for the Donald C.
Cook Nuclear Plant.
During that meeting, the Steam Generator Repair Project was identified as our number one licensing priority.
As discussed with your staff, because of the need to complete some work prior to the May 1988 start date we are requesting that the License Amendment approving this work and repair project be issued by November 30, 1987.
We request your assistance in obtaining the License Amendment necessary to approve the Steam Generator Repair Project by November 30, 1987.
To assist your staff in their review of our application, we are available to provide any supplementary information they may require, in presentation or written format, at their convenience.
I would be pleased to provide you personally with a briefin'g, or provide other such information you may desire in connection with this significant project. If we may facilitate your consideration of our application in any way, please contact me.
