This letter responds to the letter of January 28, 1987 from Mr. J.
A. Hind (NRC-Region III) to Mr. John E. Dolan regarding several sections of the D.
C.
Cook Performance Improvement Program (PIP).
Specifically, we are responding to your request that we continue several sections of our PIP until June 30, 1987.
This document confirms our commitment to ongoing tracking and trending programs designed to ensure early detection and resolution of problems.
The following specific items are included in these programs and will be continued in accordance with your request at least through June 30, 1987.
a.
Continue to improve management and supervisory effectiveness in monitoring and directing security activities to continue to reduce the potential for degraded vital area barriers.
b.
Maintain and continue to improve the tracking system to ensure adequate maintenance on security-related equipment for timeliness, effectiveness of repairs, and trending.
Continue to utilize and improve the tracking mechanisms to identify personnel-related security errors.
