As a result of our review of the NUREG-0737 Compliance Analysis Report completed for the Radiological Monitoring System at the D. C. Cook Plant, a number of significant open items were identified. Pursuant to a request from your staff in a telephone conversation of November 21,

1986, we are trans-mitting as an attachment to this letter a list of these items, including the appropriate NUREG-0737 section reference, a short description of the item, and the date by which corrective action will be completed.

II.B.3 Post Accident Sampling System (PASS): Check valves need to be installed to prevent backflow of the waste collection tank's contents into the liquid dilution tanks. Corrective Action Date Completed II.B.3 PASS: Tests showed that the configuration of the pH probe was unreliable. 6/15/87 II.F.l-l Noble Gas Effluent Monitors (NGEM): Under certain conditions the unit vents'oble gas detectors'onfiguration may not switch over from the high-range detector to the mid-range detector. Completed II.F.1-1 NGEM: Heat trace the unit vent iodine/particulate sample lines to assure representativeness. 5/1/87 5. II.F.1-2 Sampling and Analysis of Plant Effluents (SAPE): Modify the unit vent iodine/particulate sampling system to include continuous sampling. 6/15/87 II.F.1-2 SAPE: Continuous sampling or grab sampling for iodine/particulate from the Steam Jet Air Ejector or the Gland Seal Exhaust Systems. NRC exemption requested in AEP:NRC:0678W (6/23/86) II.F.1-2 SAPE: Modify the counting facility to include post-accident sample analysis. 4/1/87 8. II.F.1-3 Containment High Range Monitor: Cables to the containment high-range area monitors were not environmentally qualified. Completed under the Environmental Qualification program
