Dear Mr. Denton:
Pursuant to verbal discussion with your staff, the following information is submitted as an update of the information in our Vendor Information Control System (VICS).
Since the establishment of American Electric Power Service Corporation (AEPSC) General Procedure 5.6 in April 1985, 356 vendor technical documents have been or are presently being processed through VICS.
To date, we have sent letters to 774 vendors.
We supplied these vendors with a list of our documents and requested each vendor to verify the completeness and correctness of our list as of January 1,
1985.
We have received responses from 456 of these vendors; the responses are categorized as follows:
- 1) 373 vendors either notified us that to the best of their knowledge, all of the vendor technical documents that they have sent to us were included on the list of documents; or they sent us documents or lists of documents that did not fall under VICS.
- 2) 41 vendors sent us copies of 80 technical documents that were not listed in our files.
These documents were all processed through VICS.
3) 27 vendors requested that we supply additional information to aid them in their search.
We are presently gathering this information.
4) 15 vendors sent us lists that included a total of 334 documents.
We are presently taking steps to locate these documents within AEPSC or to procure them from the vendors'hese documents will be entered into VICS.

Mr. Harold R. Dento AEP:NRC:0838T In addition to the 774 vendors that were initially contacted, there are approximately 200 vendors from which we have received documents, but for which we have been unable to find an address.
Personnel at the Cook Plant are in the process of trying to locate the addresses from the original documents.
Letters will be sent to these vendors as soon as the addresses are available.
We are sending follow-up letters to vendors that were previously contacted but have not responded to us.
They will again be requested to verify the completeness of lists of documents that we have received from them.
At the same time, work has begun.on the first,annual vendor update as required by General Procedure 5.6.
By July 31, approximately 700 vendors will be contacted to assure that we have received all technical documents sent to us in 1985 and that we have incorporated them into VICS.
Presently, addresses are being obtained for vendors 'to-be contacted.
This document has been prepared following Corporate procedures which incorporate a reasonable set of controls to insure its accuracy and completeness prior to signature by the undersigned.
