Dear Mr. Denton:
Our letter dated June 8, 1984 (AEP:NRC:0692Q) discussed delays in the delivery of Thermal Science Incorporat'ed (TSI) materials from the manufacturer.
Because of subsequent delays in these deliveries, we feel that we now need until August 15, 1984, to complete, the installation of the fire protection material in 'those areas outl1ned 1n our June 8, 1984 letter.
The delay from June 20, 1984, to the middle of August is the direct result of the inability of the vendor to supply the material in adequate quantities and of the proper quality.
We continue to expedite the fabricat1on and delivery of these materials through constant surve1llance of the fabrication process and by using our own drivers and rental trucks to transport the mater1al from the supplier to the Cook Plant.
Thus far, our vendor has had difficulty meeting h1s scheduled commitments due to unavailability of finished materials.
This has been especially true over the past few months.
We are currently short approximately 38 sheets of this material whioh 1s requir ed to complete items related to the June 20,
- 1984, commitment date.
We bel1eve that the request to complete the installation by August 15,
- 1984, 1s a conservative request based on the current situation. It is our intention to oontinue to expedite the installation process as materials arrive.
- However, should the vendor fail to supply sufficient quantities or a proper quality material in a reasonable time frame, we w1ll advise you accordingly.
