50-315 and 50-316 License No. DPR-58 and DPR-74 ORDER CONFXRMING LICENSEE COMMXTMENTS ON POST-AK RELATED ISSUES, DATED MARCH 14, 1983 Mr. Harold R. Denton, Director Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C.

20555

Dear Mr. Denton:

In our letter No. AEP:NRC:0678D, dated December 14,

1982, we stated our intent to complete Item II.F.l, Attachment 2, Iodine Particulate
Sampling, by approximately April 30, 1983.

Our efforts to make the system operational have been frustrated by the presence of excessive moisture in the sampling lines. Because of these continuing

problems, we have installed a separate sampling system consisting of dedicated pump, flow meter and requisite particulate and iodine filters and cartridges. In addition, temporary modifications have been performed on the Unit Vent Monitoring System to provide effluent discharge to the Auxiliary Building Ventilation System.

We believe that these arrangements provide the capability to, obtain iodine and particulate samples as required by NUREG-0737, Item XX.F.1,.

Our review of the subject Order indicates that Item IX.F.1,, is shown as complete. The Unit 1's system is currently operational.

The system in Unit 2 is operational with the exception of the trending and recording function.

Except for this function not being provided, the Unit 2's system meets the requirements as outlined in our previous letters addressing Item II.F.l, Attachment 3, of NUREG-0737.

Our most recent correspondence addressing this Item, letter No. AEP:NRC:0705, dated November 5, 1982, indicated that the system was not complete.

We expect to complete the Unit 2 system shortly and willnotify you of its completion.
