Dear Mr. Denton:
This letter and its Attachment request changes to Appendix
'A'echnical Specifications for the Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant Unit Nos.
1 and 2.
The Attachment contains the revised Technical Specifications pages, with the proposed revisions marked by a vertical line on the right side.
These proposed changes have been reviewed by the Plant Nuclear Safety Review Committee.
The AEPSC Nuclear Safety and Design Review Committee will review them at its next scheduled meeting.
The proposed revisions, which have been discussed with members of your Staff, are as follows:

In the proposed Unit 1 T/S, the currently existing second paragraph of section 4.0.4 has been deleted since the initial surveillance interval time period for the Unit 1 T/S Nos. 4.3.3.7, 4.7.9 and 4.7.10 has been completed.
The proposed T/S No. 4.0.5, which is identical to that being proposed for Unit 2, is new.
This T/S is being submitted at the request of your Staff so that it can be referenced in other sections of the Unit 1 T/S.

The proposed Unit 2 T/S No. 4.0.5 differs from the existing one in the deletion of paragraph 4.0.5.a.1 which has become irrelevant.
This submittal is considered part of two earlier submittals (Letters No. AEP:NRC:0420A dated August 14,
- 1981, and No. AEP:NRC:0504 dat'pd November 11, 1981) which are under review by the NRC and for which review fees have been paid.
As such, no fee is required by this submittal.
Please be advised that we plan to submit updated Technical Specifications for Unit 1 incorporating, as appropriate, proper references to the new T/S No. 4.0.5 by April 30, 1983.
