Dear Mr. Denton:
In our letter No. AEP:NRC:0692A, dated May 10,
- 1982, we made the commitment to have an outside consultant perform an audit of the Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant's Fire Protection Program.
The Audit was conducted by Professional Loss Control, Inc.
(PLC), and their final report has been transmitted to us.
Each of the recommendations made in the PLC report has been reviewed and where indicated actions initiated to ensure the timely resolution of the deficiencies cited.
One of the findings involved the failure to develop written pre-fire plans (fire fighting strategies) for specific plant areas.
Fire brigade training sessions do include instructions in the use of fire fighting equipment, and hazards associated with specific plant areas are discussed.
Subsequent to our being informed of this deficiency, we have received and evaluated proposals from three contractors for the preparation of the above mentioned procedures.
On January 5,
1983 we completed our review of the proposals and mailed a service order. to the company whom we felt would be most capable of expeditiously resolving this deficiency.
When we have these procedures in place, we will notify you.,
This document has been prepared following Corporate Procedures which incorporate a reasonable set of controls to ensure its accuracy and completeness prior to signature by the undersigned.
