Dear Mr. Keppler:
This letter responds to your letter dated December 10, 1979 which transmitted to us IE Bulletin No. 79-28.
The required sumary of our actions taken in response to this Bulletin at the Donald C.
Cook Nuclear Plant Units I and 2 follows.
We have determined that NAMCO Model EA180 limit switches were ordered as replacements for use in a safety-related application.
None of them had been installed yet.
All of them were examined and some were found to have date codes between those cited in the IE Bulletin.
We intend to perform the recomended action of replacing the top gasket in the affected switches in accordance with the manufacturer's recomendations.
The required gaskets and instructions have been requested from the manufacturer.
The proper gaskets will be installed in the identified switches and the conduit hub of each switch with the replacement gasket will be marked with the modification code before the affected switches are released 'for installation in the plant.
The affected switches will remain on hold in the plant storeroom until this work is completed.
These as-yet-to-be-installed NAMCO switches are the only ones
. existing at the Cook Plant which fall under the action requirements of IE Bulletin No. 79-28.
