I have noted that Indiana and Michigan Power Company has made appl ica-tion for an expansion of the Spent Fuel storage capacity from 500 to 2050 fuel assembl i es at the Donald C. Cook Plant Unit Numbers 1 and 2 (Docket Nos. 50-31 5 and 50-31 6) .

The fol 1 owing correspondence i s in my possession: an Indiana and Michigan letter to you of November 22, 1978 with attachment 1, "Description and Safety Analysis for the Spent Fuel Storage Capacity Expansion Program", and an Indiana 8 Michigan letter to you of January 24, 1979 with additional information. This correspondence contains inadequate information for a comprehensive engineering public health and safety evaluation by my staff. I would appreciate receiving information sufficient for a technical review of related public health matters including any pertinent Salem Nuclear Generating Station, N.J.

data referenced by Indiana and Michigan Company.
