Dear Mr. Johnson:
In section 5.0 of the inspection report, reference (a),
indicated that all instrumentation for the Meteorological it was Monitoring Program would be replaced.. During the inspection, which took place between April 1'-5, 1991, we provided an estimated completion of April 1992. This was based on our concern over availability of spare parts for the recorders for the Meteorological tower instrumentation. RG&E has recently obtained a sufficient stock of spare parts for the Bendix recorders previously of concern. Since these recorders cannot be replaced without also modifying the tower instrumentation, we have deferred this modification. The system has been functioning properly since our acquisition of spares and increased I&C surveillance of recorder operation. Should we elect to proceed with a modification to upgrade or replace the tower instrumentation, process.
