The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is publishing the following final rule in the Federal Register:
Title:
Modified Small Quantities Protocol [RIN 3150-AJ70; NRC-2015-0263].
- Description of the rule: This final rule amends the NRCs regulations to collect information on nuclear material possessed by entities in the U.S. Caribbean Territories, as well as to allow for International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspection access, if requested by the IAEA. This final rule also implements the requirements of The Agreement between the United States and the International Atomic Energy Agency for the application of safeguards in connection with the Treaty for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in Latin America that apply to the U.S. based on modifications to this Agreements small quantities protocol.
- Dates: This final rule will become effective 30 days after publication in the Federal Register. Compliance with this final rule is required by 60 days after publication.
- This is not a major rule as defined by the Congressional Review Act.
