The attached memorandum, dated February 25, 1983, from Roger J. Hattson to Darrell G. Eisenhut, presents Arizona Public Service Company's evaluation of PORVs.

As indicated gn the February 25 memorandum, Arizona Public Service Company has concluded that PORVs are not warranted I,'foor Palo Verde.

The staff has not yet completed its review of the Arizona Public Service Company evaluation.

In this regard, the staff has underway a number of calculations to help in its assessment of the PORV issue for Combustion Engineering plants.

The staff:anticipates that its evaluation will be completed by about June 30, 1983.
