REQUEST FOR ONE-TIME EXTENSION TO THE ANNUALOPERATING TEST REQUIREMENTS OF,10 CFR 55.59

Dear Mr. Parrish:

On April 13, 1999, Washington Public Power Supply System (Supply System) requested a one-time extension beyond the requirement in 10 CFR 55.59(a)(2) for annual operating tests for licensed operators.

You requested an extension for a period not to exceed 15 months. Section 55.59(a)(2) does not have a provision for allowing an extension to the requirement for annual operating tests for licensed operators.

In order to extend the annual operating test period, you willhave to submit a request for an exemption to 10 CFR 55.59(a)(2) as required by 10 CFR 55.11.
