PERFORMANCE REVIEW MEETING - WNP-2
Dear Mr. Parrish:
This refers to the meeting conducted at your Multipurpose Facility in Richland, Washington on December 9, 1998. This meeting related to discussions of plant performance in plant operations, maintenance, engineering, radiological controls, and the corrective action program.
. During the meeting your staff provided information related to improvements and changes resulting from your Perforrriance Self-Assessment that have occurred since our meeting in April 1998. Specifically, in the area of plant operations, we found the evaluation that you performed in August 1998 of operator perforrpance to be a valuable, self-critical assessment.
Also, we were encouraged by the changesBeing implemented to lower the threshold for the self-identification of issues at the facilityand expanding the use of self assessments.
Because of improvements in both engineering and operator performance noted during conduct of the routine inspection program as well as the improvements to you have made to the corrective action program, NRC has concluded that routine semiannual meetings to discuss performance are no longer needed.
We will, however, continue to meet as needed to discuss issues of mutual interest.
ln accordance with Section 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice,". Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter willbe placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.
