TO NRC BULLETIN NO. 90-02 (TAC NO. H89124)

NRC Bulletin No. 90-02, "Loss of Thermal Margin Caused by Channel Box Bow,"

requested licensees to verify that they are meeting current minimum critical power ratio technical specifications when reusing channel boxes.

The bulletin also asked licensees to send us reused channel box information.

Your March 29, May 20, and'une 20, 1994, letters responded to the bulletin and our followup questions.

We reviewed your responses and find that they resolve the NRC Bulletin 90-02 issues for Cycle 10.

However, we require you to obtain prior NRC approval if you want to reuse channel boxes in future cycles.

Enclosed is a copy of the NRC safety evaluation.
