Thank you for your letter of October 18, 1991, detailing your planned actions and schedule for improving the performance of the Reactor Building Post-Accident Grab Sampling System (REA-SR-48).
We find your planned installation of an in-line post accident effluent monitoring system (qamma spectroscopy capability) should improve your ability to quantify the iod)ne and fission product releases following a reactor accident.
Your schedule to have the system installed and operational by the end of the 1993 refueling outage (June 1993) is acceptable.
We will review the details of the system once you have finalized the design and perform followup inspections as appropriate.
