LICENSEE CONFIRMATION OF ITS RESPONSE TO GENERIC LETTER 89-08, "EROSION/CORROSION -

INDUCED PIPE WALL THINNING" (TAC NO. 73563)

By letter dated July 20, 1989 (G02-89-122),

Washington Public Power Supply System responded to Generic Letter (GL) 89-08, "Erosion/Corrosion - Induced Pipe Wall Thinning."

In your response, you confirmed that a long term erosion/

corrosion monitoring program has been implemented at your facility.

You also stated that you will generally inspect items estimated to violate the design minimum wall thickness two years before the projected end of life instead of three years as previously stated.

Staff review revealed that this practice meets the intent of the GL.

The licensing action for this matter is considered closed.
