Division of Reactor Projects - III, IV, Y and Special Projects WNP-2 FIRE PROTECTION PROGRAM INSPECTION Charles Ramsey of Region V has advised that he will lead a team inspection on fire protection at WNP-2 this spring.
He has asked whether NRR could provide technical 'expertise for specified areas.
He also asked for our input to the inspection plan.
On March 17, 1988 I circulated an inspection plan drafted by Mr. Ramsey.
Copies went to Chemical Engineering Branch, Plant Systems
- Branch, and Electrical Systems Branch.
On March 24, 1988 Mr. Ramsey was here to discuss that draft plan.
Mr. Ramsey had specifically asked for support from specialists in fire protection and in electrical engineering.
He also noted that a number of the open fire protection issues were being evaluated by Plant Systems Branch staff.
We discussed the inspection plan with Dom Tondi and Iqbal Ahmed of the Electrical Engineering Branch.
Because of manpower limitations they will not be able to participate in the inspection but they will look into getting contractor support.
Mr. McCracken advised that Chemical Engineering could not provide a team member.
Mr. Ramsey met with John Craig who advised that he could not spare a senior reviewer for the duration of the inspection but might be able to provide a
novice (new hire).
Mr. Ramsey indicated that he would ask for a systems engineer (Armjit Singh) from Region IV.

We are pursuing your recommendation that we review the issues in the draft inspection plan to determine which ones are really need follow-up inspection by expert reviewers.
We will then prioritize those to reduce the inspection to an achievable level.
I am circulating the draft plan to the technical branches accordingly.
Attached is the draft of the plan including a tentative inspection schedule and list of participants.
