Dear Mr. Schwencer:

Subject:

NUCLEAR PROJECT NO.

2 PIPE BREAK ANALYSIS

References:

Design Reverification Program, Final Assessment

Report, September 1983 As committed to in a December 2, 1983 meeting between R. Auluck (NRC) and P.

Powell (SS) regarding the WNP-2 pipe break analysis, the following information is provided.

The pipe break analysis has been completed using the revised pipe break target evaluation procedures discussed in the reference for potential finding report PB-6.

One safety related target has been identified and direction has been implemented to modify the impacted system.

The target is a

cable, associated with the Post Accident Sampling System (PASS).

Corrective action will be to move the cable to a location out of the jet impingment zone.

Presently

-a proposed WNP.-2 licensing condition requires the PASS system to be operational by 5A.power.

The corrective action described above will be completed prior,to 5A power.

In the interim the affected cable will remain de-energized until moved.
