Dear Mr. Caldwell:
Your letter of November 8, 1983 to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has been referred to me for,a reply.
Your letter expresses support for the petition from the Coalition for Safe Power dated October 14, 1983, requesting that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission institute show cause proceedings pursuant to 10 CFR 2.202(a) to determine whether the construction permit for the Washington Public Power Supply System Nuclear Project No.
2 (WNP-2) should be revoked, a
stay of construction
- imposed, the pending application for an operating license
- denied, and hearings instituted before an Atomic Safety and Licensing Board.
As noted in the acknowledgment letter of November 9, 1983 to Mr. Eugene Rosalie, Director, Coalition for Safe
- Power, a copy of which is attached, the petition is being evaluated by my office under 10 CFR 2.206 of the Commission's regulations, and appropriate action will be taken regarding the petition within a reasonable time.
In view of your interest in this matter, a copy of the decision addressing the various points raised in the petition will be forwarded to you when it is issued.
