QA PROGRAM CHANGES FOR WNP-2 Ref.:

Letter, R. L. Tedesco to R. L. Ferguson, same subject, dated March 18, 1981.

The reference letter requested submittal of gA program changes for WNP-2 by April 10, 1981.

As Mr. Sorensen of my staff discussed with you on March 25, 1981, our planning of this effort would have the revisions completed by May 1,, 1981.

This schedule was also discussed with Mr. Haass on March 23, 1981, and it is our understanding that a

submittal by May 1, 1981 is acceptable to him.

We recognize that this later submittal may require a meeting to expeditiously resolve any NRC questions prior to the June 1, 1981 effective date of the revised program.

The major change that is contemplated is an organizational change in which Bechtel Power Corporation will be utilized as plant completion contractor.

In this role Bechtel will assume responsibility for managing systems completion and related gA for the remainder of the project and for plant start-up testing.

Burns and Roe will continue to be responsible for engineering associated with the WNP-2 Project.

Major technical changes in the original construction phase PSAR gA program requirements are not contemplated as part of this change.
