IMPROPER FABRICATION. OF STRUCTURAL MEMBERS IN CONTROL ROOM SUSPENDED CEILING In accordance with the guidelines established for the reporting of 10CFR50.55(e) conditions, your staff was informed by telephone on November 14, 1980, of a "Potentially Reportable" condition regarding the improper fabrication of the structural members in the control room suspended ceiling.
An interim report describing the deficiency and our approach to the resolution was submitted per G02-80-297, dated 12/15/80.
The WNP-2 Project has completed its evaluation and has determined this condition to be reportable under the provision of 10CFR50.55(e).
Attached is our report on this deficiency.

2 REPORTABLE DEFICIENCY AND CORRECTIVE ACTION FOR THE IMPROPER FABRICATION OF STRUCTURAL MEMBERS IN-THE CONTROL ROOM CEILING WASHINGTON PUBLIC POWER SUPPLY SYSTEM DOCKET NO. 50-397 LICENSE NO.
CPPR-93 Nature of Deficienc The control room ceiling-was installed with oversized bolt holes in the diagonal bracing, slotted holes in the vertical truss
- members, and portions of the diagonal bracing were bent at end connections to correct fabrication errors.
Safet Si nificance If the above deficiencies were to remain uncorrected, the possibility exists that the ceiling could fail and that one or more lighting fixtures supported from the ceiling could fall on safety related equipment, thus adversely affecting the safe operation of the plant.
Corrective Action The installing contractor has been directed to weld washer plates over the slotted and oversized bolt holes and to replace or to add stiffeners, with engineering approval, for the bent diagonal bracing.
