NRC INTEGRATED INSPECTION REPORT 50-244/99-02
Dear Dr. Mecredy:
This letter transmits the results of safety inspections conducted by NRC inspectors at the
Ginna Nuclear Power Plant from February 22 through April 4, 1999. At the conclusion of
the inspection, the findings were discussed with Mr. J. Widay and others of your staff.
During the six weeks covered by this inspection, we observed various equipment repairs,
modifications, and inservice inspections performed during the current refueling outage.
In
general, we concluded that your outage activities were well prepared and implemented
with good procedure controls.
Overall, radiological controls for outage work activities were effective in minimizing worker
dose and controlling contamination.
Exposure reduction program requirements were
appropriately established
and implemented during inservice inspection of reactor
components.
Your security program was also effective, and provided well controlled
access to the plant's protected areas.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter
and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR).
