SUBJECT:
EVALUATIONOF ROCHESTER GAS AND ELECTRIC COMPANY'S RESPONSE TO NRC GENERIC LEITER 97-05 FOR THE R.E. GINNA NUCLEAR POWER PLANT (TAC NO. MA0466)
Dear Dr. Mecredy:
The NRC staff has completed its review of Rochester Gas and Electric Corporation's (RGE) responses to NRC Generic Letter (GL) 97-05, "Steam Generator Tube Inspection Techniques."
The focus of GL 97-05 was to verify that licensee steam generator tube inspection practices were consistent with existing regulatory requirements and plant licensing bases.
RGE submitted responses to this GL on March 23 and September 16, 1998, that included a description and technical basis for all inspection techniques used to size the depth of steam generator tube degradation at the R. E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant. The staffs review of these responses did not identify any concerns with the steam generator tube inspection techniques employed at Ginna that would indicate RGE is not in compliance with the current licensing basis for this facility.
This concludes the NRC staff's effort on TAC No. MA0466.
