Dear Mr. Vissing:
In RG&Ess October 24, 1996 response to Generic Letter 96-04, "Boraflex Degradation in Spent Fuel Pool Storage Racks,"
we committed to perform "blackness testing" of selected Boraflex panels in 1997.
Our vendor selected to perform this testing has indicated that the personnel and equipment required to perform such testing could not be made available in calendar year 1997.
Arrangements are in place to perform this testing in the first quarter of 1998.
All other actions being taken to monitor or confirm that the 5<
subcriticality margin can be monitored in the racks remains consistent with our October 24, 1996 submittal.
