NRC INSPECTION 50-244/95-08
Dear Dr. Necredy:
This letter transmits the Harch 12,
1995 to Nay 6,
1995 inspection findings of
messrs.
T. Noslak,
E. Knutson
and other Regional staff at the R.
E. Ginna
Nuclear
Power Plant.
At the end of the inspection,
the findings were
discussed
with Hr. J.
Widay and other members of your staff.
The inspection
was focused
on areas
relevant to public health
and safety
and
examined the control of operations,
maintenance,
engineering,
and plant
support activities conducted during the Cycle 25 annual refueling and
maintenance
outage.
Within this scope,
no violations were identified.
Particularly noteworthy was the excellent coordination
between
outage
management,
the work control center,
and the control
room staff to assess
and
reduce
shutdown risks."The Plant Operations
Review Committee
was found to
provide prompt, conservative,
assessments
of plant events
and emergent
operational
issues.
The significant reduction in personnel
exposure
achieved
during this outage reflects
a well structured,
integrated
planning effort, and
strong management
support for the
ALARA principle.
In accordance
with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice,"
a copy of
this letter
and its enclosure will be placed in the
NRC Public Document
Room.
