NRC INSPECTION 50-244/95-07
Dear Dr. Neer edy:
This letter transmits the February
7 to Natch ll, 1995 inspection findings of
messrs.
T. Noslak and
E. Knutson at the
R.
E. Ginna Nuclear
Power Plant.
At
the end of the inspection,
the findings were discussed
with Nr. J. Miday and
other members of your staff.
The inspection
was focused
on areas
relevant to public health
and safety
and
examined the control of operations,
maintenance,
engineering,
and plant
support activities conducted during this period.
Mithin this scope,
no
violations were identified.
Good troubleshooting
methodology
and practices
were observed
during corrective
maintenance.
Particularly noteworthy was the
corrective action initiated by technicians
in response
to a reactor protection
system relay malfunction; their extensive
research
and planning,
undertaken
without management
direction,
demonstrated
a fundamental
appreciation for the
appropriate control of troubleshooting.
In accordance
with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice,"
a copy of
this letter
and its enclosure will be placed in the
NRC Public Document
Room.
No response
to this letter is required.
