NRC INSPECTION 50-244/94-25
Dear Dr. Necredy:
This letter transmits the October
4 to November 21,
1994 inspection findings
of Nessrs.
T. Noslak and
E. Knutson at the R.
E. Ginna Nuclear
Power Plant.
At the end of the inspection,
the findings were discussed
with Nr. J.
Widay
and other members of your staff.
The inspection
was focused
on areas
relevant to public health
and safety
and
examined the control of operations,
maintenance,
engineering,
and plant
support activities conducted during this period.
Within this scope
no
violations were identified.
Although significant management
involvement was
observed
in response
to repetitive C-Service Mater
pump failures, effective
oversight
when conducting the initial repairs could. have precluded
these
failures.

In accordance
with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice,"
a copy of
this letter and its enclosure will be placed in the
NRC Public Document
Room.
