SUBJECT'NSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-244/94-02
This letter refers to the announced
engineering and technical support inspection conducted by
Mr. H. Gregg of this office at the Rochester
Gas and Electric Corporation, Nuclear
Engineering Services Department offices and the R. E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant on
January
10-14, 1994.
Mr. Gregg discussed
the results of the inspection with Mr.Wrobel
and other members of your staff at the inspection exit meeting on January
14, 1994.
Our inspector reviewed design modifications and engineering/technical
support for the R. E.
Ginna Nuclear Power Plant.
The inspection of design modifications and engineering support
of site activities was performed to assure that equipment and systems would continue to
perform their function in protecting the health and safety of the public, and that engineering
has an effective role in this process.
The design modifications and other engineering support to R. E. Ginna reviewed during the
inspection were found to be effective as they improved safety in'plant operation.
Your
preparation for the 1994 outage had good engineering participation and was found to be well
planned.
Additionally, your engineering evaluation of improved check valve designs was a
good initiative.
