NRC INSPECTION NO. 50-244/93-16
This letter transmits
the August
1 to September
11,
1993 inspection
findings of Messrs.
T. Moslak and E, Knutson at the R. E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant.
At the end of the
inspection, the findings were discussed with Mr. J. Widay and other members of your staff.
Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the report.
Within these areas,
the
inspection
consisted
of selective
examinations
of procedures
and
representative
records,
interviews with personnel,
and observations of activities in progress.
The purpose of the
inspection was to determine whether activities authorized by the license were conducted safely
and in accordance with NRC requirements.
Within this scope, we found effective coordination
between
your operations,
maintenance,
and
engineering
staffs in performing
corrective
maintenance
to a service water leak in the "B" heater drain tank pump motor oil cooler.
In
particular, the astute observation ofthe auxiliary operator in identifying this off-normal condition
is noteworthy.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and
its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
