SUBJECT:
R. E. GINNA RESIDENT INSPECTION 50-244/93-12 (6/10/93 - 7/31/93)
This letter transmits the June 10 to July 31, 1993 inspection findings of Messrs. T. Moslak and
E. Knutson at the R. E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant. At the end of the inspection, the findings
were discussed with Mr. S. Adams and other members of your staff.
Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the report.
Within these areas,
the
inspection
consisted
of selective
examinations
of procedures
and
representative
records,
interviews with personnel,
and observations of activities in progress.
The purpose of the
inspection was to determine whether activities authorized by the license were conducted safely
and in accordance with NRC requirements.
Within this scope, the alert response of operations
.personnel
to a
condensate
system
demonstrated
proficient operational
control.
Additionally, your response
to a rod control system malfunction was methodically carried out.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and
its enclosure willbe placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
