This letter refers to the inspection conducted by Ms. Laurie Peluso and Dr. Jason Jang of

this office on February 8-12, 1993, of activities authorized by NRC License No. DPR-18 at

the R, E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant, Ontario, New York and to the discussion of our

findings held by Ms. Peluso and Dr. Jang with Mr. Marlow and other members of your staff

at the conclusion of the inspection.

Areas examined during this inspection, involving your radiological environmental monitoring

and are described in the NRC Region I Inspection Report that is enclosed with this letter.

Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and

records, interviews with personnel,

and independent observations by the

inspector.

Within the scope of this inspection, your improvements of the radiological environmental

monitoring and radioactive effluent control programs were noteworthy.

We noted that the

responsible individuals were knowledgeable with respect to implementation of the above

programs.

No safety concerns or violations of regulatory requirements were identified.
