DPR-18 The revision to 10 CFR Part 21, Section 21(a) made effective on 10/29/91, requires an interim report of any deviation for which an evaluation to determine reportability impact is unable to be completed within 60 days of discovery.

A deviation requiring additional evaluation time is described in Attachment A.

Further correspondence on the item described in Attachment A will not be issued unless the evaluation is not completed as scheduled or the deviation requires reporting per 10 CFR Part 21.

Description:==

7/2/92 During receipt inspection, a weld overlap area was noted on the body-to-bonnet weld on a 1/2" ASME Class IIvalve purchased from Henry Vogt Machine Company.

The valve serial number is 2-21661D, and the deficiency was reported on RGB Nonconformance Report 92-312. Additional testing is required to characterize the overlap. Vpon completion ofthis testing, a final evaluation can be performed.

QC Supervisory and Records Category 5.12 Review 4/R4 A3-IO S Date NCR 92-312 Engineering Review Nonconformance no.1 Engineering concurs with the "use as is" disposition. Subject valves were procured to APX 602 class 8001 standard with ASNE CL. 2 certification requirements excluding code stamping and ANX inspection. The 7154, 850 degree F Pressure/Temperature rating is bounded within the pressure/temperature ratings applicable to both ANSI and ASNE 600/ valves and API class 800@ valves. Nonconformance no.2 The suspect weld overlap on the body to bonnet pressure boundary weld shall be iiquid Penetrant tested in accordance with Asme XXX class 2 requirements. Xf the suspect weld overlap passes the test criteria the valve is acceptable. Xf the suspect weld fails the the v test criteria, the valve shall be returned or scrapped. Fu th alve was procured and hydrostatically tested by the vendor to er, Asme IXX requfi.rements of 1.5X the cold working pressure of 20001 thus verifying the pressure boundary integrity of the valve.
