Ginna Nuclear Power Station Docket No. 50-244 Licensee No. DPR-18 The revision to 10 CFR Part 21,'Section 21(a) made effective on 10/29/91, requires an 'interim report of any deviation for which an evaluation to determine.reportability impact 'is unable to be completed within 60 days of discovery.

A deviation requiring additional evaluation time is described in Attachment A.

Further correspondence on the item described in Attachment A will not be issued unless the evaluation is not completed as scheduled or the deviation requires reporting per 10 CFR Part 21.

Description:==

A letter from D. Janacek (MOVATS) to J. Widay (RG&E), dated February 28, 1992 alerted RG&E to potential inaccuracies associated with using the "Open Calibration" approach to measure the closing stem thrust of MOV's. The measured thrust could be outside of the accuracies previously published by MOVATS. This letter was evaluated, and on March 13, 1992, RG&E initiated an internal document (PCAQ 92-008) that identified this deviation as

applicable to RG&E. A program of re-evaluation of previous test results and performance tests is in progress during the current annual refueling and maintenance outage. Upon completion of these tests, final evaluations can be performed.
