Docket No. 50-244 Dr. Robert C. Mecredy, Vice President Ginna Nuclear Production Rochester Gas

& Electric Corporation 89 East Avenue Rochester, New York 14649-0001

Dear Dr. Mecredy:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has reviewed the Emergency

Response

Data System (ERDS) implementation plan that you submitted in your letter dated October 30, 1991.

Based upon this review, the NRC has found that your implementation plan provides the basis for an acceptable implementation of the ERDS at your facility.

Be advised that the testing phase of ERDS implementation involves testing with the NRC contractor, Halliburton NUS Environmental Corporation.

Since the contractor does not have unlimited resources for testing multiple ERDS links simultaneously, close coordination with Halliburton NUS in scheduling your ERDS testing will be a key element in the successful completion of ERDS implementation.

The project manager at Halliburton NUS is Mr. Tony LaRosa, who may be reached at (208) 524-9227.

If you have any questions or problems in implementing the ERDS program, please contact Mr. John Jolicoeur, the NRC EROS project manager, at (301) 492-4155, or me.

Sincerely, A>lek lt. Johilson, project Nanager 0 i i al si ned b
