R. E. Ginna Resident Inspection 50-244/91-14 (5/21/91 - 6/24/91)
From May 21 to June 24, 1991, the NRC Region I staff conducted a routine safety inspection
at your facility. We have documented
the results in the enclosed report.
At the end of the
inspection, Mr. T. Moslak of my staff summarized the findings with Mr. J. Widay and other
members of your staff.
The inspection examined the control of operational and maintenance activities conducted
during this period.
Within this area, the timely identification and removal of zebra mussel
fouling in the Emergency Diesel Generators jacket cooling water systems were found to be
well planned and coordinated, with appropriate involvement by site management.
We acknowledge your correction of inadequacies
in Operations Procedure 0-1.1 to better
assure operability of the Overpressure
Protection System when required.
In this regard, we
note an associated
need for continued emphasis on improving attention-to-detail to assure that
procedures
are more clearly written.
