In reference 1
Rochester Gas and Electric Corporation (RGGE) submitted a six-month response to Generic Letter 89-10 'briefly describing the methods by which RGGE intends to meet the Gl 89-10 recommendations.
On page 2 of the response, RGGE states that "MOVs in the above systems will be tested at design pressure when practical."
Since six-month response was written, several supplements to GL 89-10 have been issued, including the results of public workshops designed to clarify the intent of the generic letter.
On Page 27 of Supplement 2 to GL 89-10, the staff's response to Question 29 states that test data from an MOV tested under desi,gn-basis conditions could be used to demonstrate operability of an identical MOV in a parallel train if justified properly.
Therefore, RG&E is revising the MOV Program description to require that design-basis DP testing be required to be. performed.
on only one MOV in a parallel train of identical MOVs, provided.'dequate margin above the thrust required to overcome DP is demonstrated.
If DP test results are satisfactory but adequate margin does not exist, the other valves in the parallel train will be DP tested.
